traffic is rather low here but people are going the right way. waited 24 min here and a nice hungarian driver with a spacey car took us all the way to Budapest. asking with big smiles are key

We waited for more than 2 hours, alternately hitchhiking and asking people. Usually very unwilling hungarian drivers and full packed czech and slovak drivers returning from holidays. I would try to avoid next time, maybe stay at the tolls after Zagreb and wait for a ride directly to where you want to go.

Petrol station towards north (Hungary). Not very busy one (tuesday, beginning of september).

The point is not so bad, but nobody stopped for us during 2 hours. We needed to go back to the city and look for a sleep.

There is a great place where people can stop their car. Lot of people going to Zagreb. We got ride really fast.

It's a gas station, so you have to ask people. We tried hitchhiking for 1 hour and then we asked some czech people (we're also czech) to take us and they were also going to lake Balaton. We got beer and they eventually stayed in the same camp as we did so it was a lot of fun. I always hesitate to ask people but it's usually fruitful, so don't be afraid! the worst that can happen is that they say no and you will never see them again.

After 40 minutes of waiting the first car with Osijek plates took me there

Not really a good spot, but this is probably the only place which works if you want to go to north and you were in the city before. We waited 3 hours, only 3 car stopped, but the first two went to wrong direction

This place is probably your best chance to leave Zagreb in direction of Hungary. We waited for 1 hour, but eventually one guy stopped and took us to Varaždin. That's where you should aim with your sign - there is a gas station there to try from.
The stickers from hitchhikers are not there anymore. But it's funny because you're hitchiking directly from under the no autostop sign. Croatians are mostly picking up hitchhikers, but it all depends on the time of day and your direction.

We got a ride with truck driver to Varaždin. This is a good spot to Croatia. There is a MC Donald and some truck drivers stops here
